1. Overview
This Return & Refund Policy ("Policy") governs all refund and return requests for services provided by SchwartzWebDesigns, a web design business operating in the State of California, United States. By purchasing or engaging our services, you agree to the terms of this Policy.
Because SchwartzWebDesigns provides creative, custom, and digital services rather than physical products, our refund policy reflects the nature of the work involved. Time, creative effort, and third-party costs are invested immediately upon commencement of work, and these cannot be recovered once spent.
48-HOUR REFUND WINDOW: All refund requests must be submitted within 48 hours of the original payment. Requests submitted after this window will not be considered under any circumstances.
2. The 48-Hour Refund Window
2.1 How It Works
SchwartzWebDesigns offers a 48-hour window from the time of your initial payment during which you may request a full refund, subject to the eligibility conditions in Section 3. This window begins at the exact date and time your payment is processed and expires 48 hours later.
Example: If you make a payment on Monday at 2:00 PM, your refund window closes on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. Requests received after that time will not be eligible for a refund.
2.2 Why 48 Hours
Web design projects require immediate resource allocation, including time for consultation, planning, design preparation, and in some cases, third-party service activation such as domain registration. The 48-hour window provides a fair opportunity to reconsider your purchase before significant work has begun, while protecting SchwartzWebDesigns from unrecoverable costs.
2.3 How to Request a Refund
To submit a refund request within the eligible 48-hour window, you must:
Contact SchwartzWebDesigns in writing via email at lida@schwartzwebdesigns.com or our official contact form
Include your full name and the name on the payment
Include your order or invoice number
Include the date and amount of your payment
State your reason for requesting a refund
Refund requests submitted verbally, by phone, or through informal messaging channels may not be accepted. Written requests create a clear record and protect both parties.
3. Eligibility Conditions
To qualify for a refund, ALL of the following conditions must be met at the time the refund request is submitted:
The refund request is submitted in writing within 48 hours of the original payment
Work on your project has not yet commenced
No third-party fees or costs have been incurred on your behalf (e.g., domain registration, software licenses)
No deliverables, drafts, or design assets have been provided to you
The request includes all required information listed in Section 2.3
IMPORTANT: ALL conditions above must be satisfied simultaneously. Meeting some but not all conditions does not qualify you for a refund. SchwartzWebDesigns reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether these conditions have been met.
4. Non-Refundable Items & Situations
The following are NOT eligible for a refund under any circumstances, regardless of when the request is made:
4.1 Work Already Started
Any service for which work has commenced — including initial consultations, planning sessions, design mockups, research, or any preparatory work — is non-refundable. Once SchwartzWebDesigns has invested time and effort into your project, those resources cannot be recovered.
4.2 Domain Registration Fees
Domain registration fees are non-refundable once a domain has been registered on your behalf. Domain registration costs are passed directly and immediately to the domain registrar and cannot be reversed. This applies even if the refund request is made within the 48-hour window.
4.3 Third-Party Costs Already Incurred
Any third-party fees, software licenses, hosting fees, stock media licenses, or other costs already paid on your behalf are non-refundable, as these funds have been disbursed to external providers and cannot be recovered by SchwartzWebDesigns.
4.4 Completed or Delivered Work
Any project, phase, or deliverable that has been completed and provided to the Client is non-refundable. This includes website designs, graphic assets, copy, mockups, and any other digital deliverable.
4.5 Payments Beyond 48 Hours
Any payment made more than 48 hours prior to the refund request is non-refundable without exception. The 48-hour window is a firm deadline and will not be extended for any reason, including but not limited to: failure to read the policy, personal circumstances, dissatisfaction with design direction after approval, or requests submitted to the wrong channel.
4.6 Change of Mind After Approval
Refunds will not be issued for change of mind after a design direction, concept, or phase has been approved by the Client. Approval constitutes acceptance of that stage of work.
4.7 Dissatisfaction With Results
SchwartzWebDesigns makes no guarantee of specific business outcomes, traffic, revenue, or search engine rankings (see our Terms of Service). Dissatisfaction with results or performance of a completed website does not constitute grounds for a refund.
5. Partial Refunds
In limited circumstances, SchwartzWebDesigns may offer a partial refund at our sole discretion. Partial refunds may be considered when:
Work has commenced but only a small portion of the project scope has been completed
The Client requests cancellation before the project is finished
SchwartzWebDesigns is unable to complete the agreed scope of work due to circumstances on our end
The amount of any partial refund will be calculated based on the value of work already completed, third-party costs incurred, and administrative costs. Partial refunds are not guaranteed and are offered entirely at SchwartzWebDesigns' discretion.
6. Project Cancellations
6.1 Client-Initiated Cancellation
If you wish to cancel your project, you must notify SchwartzWebDesigns in writing. Cancellation does not automatically entitle you to a refund. Refund eligibility upon cancellation is governed by Sections 2, 3, and 4 of this Policy.
For cancellations made after work has commenced, the Client is responsible for payment of all work completed up to the date of cancellation, plus any third-party costs incurred. If the amount already paid does not cover these costs, the Client may owe an outstanding balance.
6.2 SchwartzWebDesigns-Initiated Cancellation
SchwartzWebDesigns reserves the right to cancel a project at any time if the Client fails to meet their responsibilities (see Terms of Service, Section 6), engages in abusive conduct, or violates these Terms. In such cases, SchwartzWebDesigns will issue a refund for any work not yet performed, minus any third-party costs already incurred.
7. Refund Processing
7.1 Processing Time
Approved refunds will be processed within 10 business days of approval. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used at the time of purchase. SchwartzWebDesigns is not responsible for delays caused by your bank, card issuer, or payment processor.
7.2 Refund Confirmation
Once a refund has been processed, SchwartzWebDesigns will send written confirmation to the email address on file. Please retain this confirmation for your records.
7.3 Denied Refund Requests
If your refund request is denied, SchwartzWebDesigns will notify you in writing with the reason for denial. Denied requests may be appealed by contacting us in writing within 7 days of the denial notice. Appeals will be reviewed at SchwartzWebDesigns' sole discretion.
8. Chargebacks & Disputes
WARNING: Filing a chargeback without first contacting SchwartzWebDesigns to resolve the issue is a violation of this Policy and our Terms of Service, and will be contested.
SchwartzWebDesigns strongly encourages Clients to contact us directly before initiating any chargeback or payment dispute with their bank or card issuer. We are committed to resolving disputes in good faith and prefer to handle issues directly.
If a chargeback is filed without prior communication, SchwartzWebDesigns will:
Immediately suspend all work in progress
Withhold all deliverables and completed assets pending resolution
Contest the chargeback with full documentation, including communications, work logs, and proof of delivery
Permanently suspend the Client from future services
Reserve the right to pursue the full disputed amount plus any associated costs through legal channels
Chargebacks filed for services that have been rendered, partially or fully delivered, or are within scope will be vigorously disputed. We urge you to contact us first — most issues can be resolved quickly and fairly through direct communication.
9. Nature of Digital Services
SchwartzWebDesigns provides custom creative and digital services. Unlike physical products, digital services cannot be "returned" once delivered. Design work, once created, represents time, skill, and resources that cannot be reclaimed.
By engaging SchwartzWebDesigns, the Client acknowledges and accepts that:
Digital deliverables cannot be physically returned
Creative work involves subjective judgment and personal taste
Dissatisfaction with creative direction after approval does not entitle a refund
The revision process (covered in our Terms of Service) is the appropriate channel for addressing design concerns during the project
